How long have you been working at Wembley Stadium connected by EE?
6 years.
How would you explain your job to a child?
I am very lucky; I have a job that I would pay to do (don’t tell my boss). I work at the most famous stadium in the world and with 5,000 people on event days. My job is to make sure all of the event delivery teams know what they need to do, to ensure all of our 90,000 visitors have an amazing time and it inspires a memory that they can talk about for many years, so they can remember the time they visited the world famous Wembley Stadium.
Your favourite thing about working at Wembley Stadium?
The start of an event, whether that’s a singer or band walking out onto a stage or two football teams walking out from the tunnel for a cup final. Our teams have spent months planning the event, the crowds are inside the stadium bowl and there is one almighty roar, a spine-tingling moment and one that never gets boring. This is why we work in events and we are so fortunate to relive that moment so many times.
Your best memory of Wembley Stadium?
My previous job was organising events for a music promoter and I was lucky enough to help organise The Foo Fighters concert at the stadium in 2008. The gig meant so much to the band and they were incredibly nervous, the pitch was packed with fans and there was one moment when the lead singer Dave Grohl stood back on the stage, looked at the magnitude of the event and was overcome whilst telling the crowd what that moment meant to him. I was standing in the pit in front of the stage doing exactly the same, exhausted from all the work it took to get to that moment, but bloody hell, this was Wembley Stadium and it was electric. A stadium I referred to when I was a child playing football on a field in a knockout game called “Wembley” and here I was standing in front of one the greatest rock and roll bands who were living their dream and I was part of it. Life doesn’t get much sweeter than that moment!
Dream Wembley event?
Being a Manchester lad, The Smiths reunion. I don’t think it would ever happen but my god, it would be epic!
